ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AUDIT (APA)
Dear all Undergraduate Students,
Our university shall be audited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (which is under the ambit of the Ministry of Higher Education) on October 12-16 2009 to assess whether the University can be given a self-accreditation status. With this status, UPM shall be considered as having effective internal management systems for quality to manage its core functions (teaching-learning, research, professional service, community engagement) with resources and manpower available. This means that the required benchmarked academic performance and quality standards set by the Agency have been met.
September 8-9 will see UPM’s own internal auditors at work to ensure that our internal management systems are in place.
You may also be audited, and thus, your role is to ensure that you know as much as you can about UPM and our undergraduate regulations.

Academic: ENGLISH COURSE ISSUE
DEAR STUDENTS FROM FACULTY OF FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY:
Here is the LASTEST NEWS from Academic Division, UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA and Academic Division of Faculty Food Science and Technology.
For 2007/08 and 2008/09 intake students who score BAND 5 and BAND 6 in MUET, you are compulsory to take 6 credit hours of higher Level English course to replace the exempted BBI 2420 and BBI2421. The Higher Level English courses are:-
1. BBI2412(Writing for academic purpose)
2. BBI2414(Interactive Speaking)
3. BBI 2415(Report Writing)
4. BBI 2416(Business English)
5. BBI 2417(Public Speaking)
Review:
On 25 March2009, MPPUPM08/09 had checked with Academic Division of UPM and Faculty Modern Language and Communication about this English course issue. Both of parties are responded that UPM students are compulsory to take at least 6 credit hours English courses before graduate. For those score band 5 and band 6 in MUET may exempt BBI 2420 and BBI2421, and then replace those 6credit hour with higher level English courses above. But according to the info of Academic Division of Faculty Food Science and Technology, for those score band 5 and band 6 in MUET may exempt BBI 2420 and BBI2421, and then not need replace any higher level English courses.
Due to inconsistent responses between Academic Division of Faculty Food Science and Technology and Academic Division of UPM, so, MPPUPM08/09 had requested Academic Division of Faculty of Food Science and Technology to recheck with Academic Division of UPM about this issue.
Finally, both of parties above had agreed that 2007/08 and 2008/09 intake students who score BAND 5 and BAND 6 in MUET are compulsory to take 6 credit hours of higher Level English course to replace the exempted BBI 2420 and BBI2421 courses.
Thank You.
